We catch up with our mates- The Whip- to bring you an exclusive insider interview…
Describe your music in 5 words…
Frightening

How did you become involved in Snowbombing?
We played the festival 2 years ago and fell in love. I can honestly say that we gave ourselves to the festival for the duration of our stay, in mind, body and soul.
We were booked last year but after much reluctance had to cancel due to a 6 week American tour that appeared in our diary- and peed on - and therefore melted part 2 of our austrian bodega. So were very happy to be playing this year.
Are you in to snowsports?
After a few days at the festival I became confused by body pains. I was unsure if they were from the party the night before or the slopes the day after.
I’d never boarded before but we took a friend who popped our snow cherry by taking us straight to the top of the mountain and down some severe slopage. We tumbled down a few times throughout the week.
However some of the band relied more on the apres ski options available and never made it up the mountains.
How to keep warm?
If you are unable to find enough goose down to sheath your body then alcohol will help. Gluvine is rife throughout Snowbombing and once administered a bloody good dance warms the old cockles even further.
Other festivals this year?
We’re tied up with recording our new album this summer so we’re concentrating our efforts on the studio but have found it irresistible to go without a few shows here and there. We’re defo saving most of our efforts for later in the year and for the time being playing hard to get.
Further collaborations?
At the moment I’m really snowed under with efforts on our second album but am defo up for a few colab’s in the future. I have a few unfinished things with various people but haven’t had the time to see it all through. It’s so important for us to get focused on the new album thats stuff like remixes is gonna have to wait a little while.
Who do you admire?
I really like the zombie nation album, his rhythms are amazing. The Yacht album is nice too, The Horrors album is a bit of a beast, Vitalic flash mob is sweet meat. there are some nice rory philips and aeroplane remixes out there.
Biggest inspirations in making music?
To kick out the tension and lose yourself in a melody. It’s nice to try and create a little fantasy world.
Trashed?
Ha! None of us have ever said “i’m trashed” it’s a sitting duck! But seeing as you asked we had a hoot on saturday, we played the opening show for the new factory records venue in our hometown manchester. It was nice to be a part of and great to play some new stuff, which we’re doing more and more of.
New album?
I wanted it done last year but we’ve been so busy touring that it wasn’t possible. We’re really happy with the material and are sorting our the right producer at the moment.
I think it’ll be out by the end of the summer, I can’t wait to get it out!
