Festival Awards 2011: Gissa Gong!

Autumn is a time for reflection. The sweltering sun kissed days of summer are like that ‘ENGLAND’ flag you briefly believed in; slowly fading with each falling leaf.

Summer is over and the field festivals have closed down for another year: The Cider Bus stands forgotten in a car park in Taunton and the Japanese Noodle van has been mothballed. Wristband manufacturers are holidaying in the Caribbean and hundreds of thick Welsh blokes are back at home watching Jeremy Kyle and signing on, instead of standing by perimeter fences looking bored and scratching their backs with their radios.

So when the UK Festival Awards nominated us for ‘Best Overseas Festival’ & ‘Best European Festival’, we figured that as SB: 10 really was something special (and if you were there you’ll know what we mean), we figured we’d ask you to consider registering your pleasure for us.

So if you kick started your summer beneath bluebird Austrian skies, if your jaw dropped at the scenery and your lungs buzzed at the fresh alpine air, if you took part in Austria’s biggest ever fancy dress party, or if you danced around a fire on a snow plateau beneath more stars than Professor Stephen Hawking could count twinkling above you, or if you watched Fatboy Slim in a forest, or moshed to The Enemy, Editors or Friendly Fires or if you stayed awake with 2ManyDJ’s, Yoda or Krafty Kuts, if you enjoyed a sausage from Hans the Butcher or a Jagermesier on the balcony, if you learnt to ride and live the mountains like a local or met someone special, fell in love, realized that there are other people out there like you – who are serious about music and even more serious about silliness, and if you returned with a tan and more memories than Channel 4 could fit into an 8 hour show and like really enjoyed your time with us. Please say so here: VOTE FOR SNOWBOMBING!

Best Overseas Festival runs from Sept 15th – Oct 4th. European voting runs 13 October- 1 December.

Come on – propel us onto the shortlist. Voting is open NOW!
