Snowbombing @ Fabriclive Review

The much fabled encounter between the unstoppable force and the immovable object came to fruition last Friday night in one of London’s most established underground clubs. Yes, the mecca of mountainside musical madness, (err that’s SNOWBOMBING FESTIVAL as if you didn’t already know!)  hooked up with our bass bin breaking friends from North East London superclub FABRIC, to create the most explosive Friday night since my mate steve started that chip pan fire on the BP forecourt outside Bishop’s Sutton on the A31 to Winchester – BOOM!

Snowbombing’s rowdy ragtag collection of regulars congregated in the adjacent Castle Public House to get some much needed autumnal insulation on the go; to say spirits were high is an understatement as everyone headed straight for bottles with the 40% ABV sticker. Stuffed to ribs with Rum we descended into the cavernous club to find a veritable smorgasbord of sounds on offer… First up in room one was Snowbombing line up programmer and cheeky chappy Mr MARC ROBERTS.

Joining Marc on the decks in the main room for the evening’s entertainment were Snowbombing Stalwarts and the night’s headliners the almighty STANTON WARRIORS. After causing a crowd surfing, road-wrecking riot at the 2010 street party they once again smashed their set like that proverbial bull in a china shop . They were more than ably supported by some very special American guests in the form DJ CRAZE & DJ KLEVER. Playing individual sets instead of their 4 deck riot set, this was nonetheless an amazing masterclass in turntable terrorism.

Leaving the mania in the biggest room for a cheeky Jager, we then stumbled onto the medium sized room (apparently they call it room 2 but by this stage of the night everything was being judged via the medium of spatial awareness) where we came across a formidable DNB tutorial courtesy of head lecturer DJ HYPE. Armed to the teeth with jump up filth and being joined by ED RUSH, DJ FRESH & MCs IC3 & 2SHY this was the place for the bass heads. Not much more to say than sweaty, ravey, bassy good times, bit like the SCHLUSSEL before they added the air con.

Soon it was back to bar, but this time we headed up to ROOM 3 (the smaller one) to find  those Shoreditch scenesters and Snowbombing veterans, the URBAN NERDS hosting a professionally poppin party. James, Rompa and Marksman had once again put a stonking line up together featuring A1 BASSLINE, MUMDANCE, KLOSE ONE & RATTUS RATTUS. With a bar in touching distance of the dancefloor and a vibrant crowd going hard before going home this was the perfect room to round off the night. Good friends, good tunes, good times – bit like Snowbombing really.

So as the sun began to creep over the horizon and the taxi men quoted ridiculous fares we officially declared the SNOWBOMBING CLUB TOUR open for business and toasted one final jager to the fact we’ll be bouncin, boozin, turnin & gur………… erm, anyways, under the mountains of MAYRHOFEN in a measly 6 months.
