Snowbombing in Oxford.
The Snowbombing team and I headed along the M40 last Friday to Oxford for our first ever Snowbombing Club Night with Metropolis and Freerange in the city of dreaming spires.

I was not sure what I was in for, but having seen the impressively refurbished 02 Academy, I knew we were in for a good night. After spending a few hours putting up our usual array of Snowbombing banners, flags, posters and littering the bars with moustaches and other Snowbombing goodies, the team managed to squeeze in a quick few jars in the pub next door.
When we emerged suitably refreshed, I was surprised to see a huge queue of excited students snaking all the way up the road outside the O2. Perhaps they were thoroughly impressed with Andy C’s speech at the Oxford Union. More like likely just wanted to dance away memories of the past weeks gruelling lectures. Within thirty minutes of the doors of the O2 opening, the venue was packed and with Joker gracing the decks, the main room was filled with dirty wobbling basslines. The good mix of Oxford students and local dnb heads were bouncing along with Cheshire cat grins, only made more spectacular by their Snowbombing-issued moustaches acquired on the way in. Town and Gown harmony indeed!
It has been a few years since I last saw Andy C, but he never fails to play an amazing set. After the recent release of Nightlife 5 (coincidently the fastest selling drum and bass complication in history), Andy tore the roof of the place, as expected, with his mix of dirty double drops and impressive tune selection. His last track finally saw the sound system give up the ghost; the acrid smell of burnt wiring surely bringing the night to an untimely end. However, security were quick to show the up-for-it clubbers the way upstairs to the smaller more compact room 2. The dance floor was hot & heaving as Friction, Breakage and Shy FX showed Oxford’s finest how it a should be done and kept everyone dancing through until the early hours.

At 4am, the team and I quickly took down the Snowbombing branding before heading home before a well deserved sleep. All in all, it was a great night and we will definitely be going back next year. Thanks Oxford and see you at Snowbombing!
Pictures of the event will be appearing in the Snowbombing gallery very soon!
