After a final play-off which took place in the Europahaus on Friday night following Prodigy’s forest fire, a cool coronation took place…
The Black Sand were crowned Gigwise’s 2011 Kings of The Mountain!

They were amongst three finalists to take to the stage as part of Gigwise’s annual sky high battle of the bands for unsigned acts.
IONLYDATEMODELS and Switchboard Spectacular made it a tough decision for the judges, but the four-piece from South London picked up the €2,000 prize after impressing with their strong vocals and memorable cover of Nancy Sinatra’s ‘Bang Bang’ on the final night of the festival.
Runners Up – IONLYDATEMODELS
We are happy to report that they wasted no time and began celebrating like true rock stars – after receiving €2000 in cash, they were spotted getting jiggy at Fatboy Slim’s show later that evening…which resulted in at least one member missing his plane home! Top work, fellas!
Runners Up - Switchboard Spectacular
Good luck to them on the road to rock’n’roll stardom – send our regards to Ms Moss (you’ll bump into eventually – all bands do) and when you’re playing the pyramid stage at Glastonbury, remember who supported you first!
