getting there

You can book the Snowbombing Road Trip or a coach from the UK with us. We also offer airport transfers.

Location

Mayrhofen is located 32 kilometres south of Jenbach, nestling at the end of the Ziller Valley and is the 3rd largest community in Tyrol. The town benefits from being surrounded by nine other resorts, namely Fugen, Hochfugen, Kaltenbach, Zell, Gerlos, Kunigsleiten, Finkenberg, Tux and the Hintertuxer Glacier.

The resort is close to several airports, the nearest being Innsbruck (a quick 45mins down the road) and others such as Salzberg and Munich are only a couple of hours away by coach transfer. This means you don't have to take an agonizing (but often fun) 24 hour coach journey, but simply jump on a short flight and swift transfer to take you to the incredible snowy Alps of Austria.

Coaches From the UK

Those of you with a fear of flying or late comers who've missed the cheap flights, fear not, one of our coaches will deliver you from your nearest city to the festival doorstep for a paltry £118 upwards.

One set of coaches will be leaving the UK on 30th March and arriving in Mayrhofen the next day (customers on this coach will need to book an extra night's accommodation at the beginning of the event). The next option is to depart on 31st March to arrive in 'da Hoff on 1st April. Coach depature times can be found here.

All coaches will leave Mayrhofen on Saturday 6th April, returning to the UK on Sunday 7th April (in time for work on Monday).

SNOWBOMBING PACKAGES

What does the standard Snowbombing package include?

Snowbombing is sold as an accommodation and entertainment package, meaning the event wristband is included in the price you pay to secure your accommodation. Basically all your entertainment at Snowbombing is free... Bargain!

In the past, people have thought that when they got to Snowbombing, they would have to pay to enjoy the world class DJs, live acts and entertainment advertised by the event. This most definitely is not the case! Your wristband gets you free entry into all Snowbombing events and entertainment except where specified in the optional Extras, specifically the Arctic Disco and Back Country Party. Most Snowbombers decide to take full advantage of our entertainment offers, going out to every party, every single night until the last record is played... Good on 'em!

Your wristband also ensures you get the best drinks prices, and big discounts in restaurants, shops and for extreme activities (500cc snow bike riding, paragliding, tobogganing etc).

Is there a minimum age required to attend Snowbombing?

As Snowbombing’s Terms and Conditions state:

You must be at least 18 years of age to book with SBH Events Ltd and if you are under 18 and travelling with us, a responsible adult must accompany you. There may be other age restrictions on certain of our offers or services and these will be detailed in these offers or the descriptions of these services.
Anyone under the age of 18 years old is welcome to attend Snowbombing on the condition they are accompanied by a responsible adult. Underage individuals will be able to enjoy the open air venues, such as the Street and Forest parties, but please bear in mind that the majority of venues are licensed (for the consumption of alcohol) premises and that the same age restrictions apply in Austria as do in the UK. The security staff may well ask for proof of age ID and anyone under 18 years of age could well declined from entering any of the indoor, licensed venues.

When does the event start and which day should I arrive?

The event officially starts on MONDAY 1st April 2013 and finishes on SATURDAY 6th April. When booking, you will have the choice of selecting your arrival date as Saturday (30th March), Sunday (31st March) or Monday (1st April). Again you will have the choice of checking-out on Saturday the 6th or Sunday 7th.

Obviously the check-in date option is for flexibility around affordable flights and gives the option of getting there nice and early and settling before the event officially starts. The same goes for the late check-out option avoiding the big rush home along with all the other Snowbombers. The cost of extra nights will depend on your accommodation selection. All prices can be seen on the prices and booking tab at http://www.snowbombing.com/en/book/

I just want to come to Snowbombing for the day rather than week. Can I book day tickets?
No. Unfortunately due to capacity reasons we can only sell full Snowbombing event packages for a minimum of 5 nights i.e. Monday 1st April to Saturday 7th April.

I have already booked / have my own accommodation in Mayrhofen. Can I just purchase a Snowbombing event wristband?

No. At the moment, Snowbombing is only being sold as an accommodation and a festival / entertainment (wristband) package. Again, this is due to venue capacity constraints. Should Snowbombing wristband-only sales to be made available, this will only be undertaken at the beginning of 2013 at the earliest.

I live / am working in Mayrhofen for the 2012 / 2013 winter season. Is there any opportunity for locals and seasonairres to purchase a Snowbombing wristband-only?

Yes. Having thousands of party-hungry Snowbombers descend on your home town and place of work can is only a blessing when you can get involved too! Local and Seasonaire Snowbombing wristband-only sales will be available prior to Christmas from the Mayrhofen tourist office based in the Europahaus.

Eligibility will be strictly checked, so remember you will need to take with you photo id, proof of your residency in Mayrhofen or a copy of your work contract, stating you are employed in the resort of Mayrhofen, if you are working the winter season. Snowbombing wristband-only sales can only be made to in person with the correct identification from the Mayrhofen tourist office.

How much does the standard Snowbombing package cost?

We welcome you to try and find a better value holiday featuring all the entertainment that Snowbombing has to offer. People have tried it in the past and found themselves faced with hidden extras and costs that have escalated.

Using our booking system you can put together the package most suited to you. The minimum option is 5 nights' accommodation (including your festival wristband). We have accommodation to suit all pocket depth - from cost conscious apartments and great value traditional guest houses to bling-tastic 4 star spa luxury hotels... The choice is yours.

We have over ten year’s experience and always try to get you the best prices.  In a nut shell, we do all the hard work so all you have to do is worry about how you want to spend your time!

How can I pay and is there a booking fee?

Bookings should be made online by Visa, Debit Card, Switch, Solo or MasterCard. The standard fee of 2.5% for bookings is applicable.
Visa Electron has a zero% booking fee. Your card will initially get charged but you can claim this back.

Do I have to pay the whole amount straight away?

No. A deposit of £125 is payable upon booking. The full balance of the booking is due 6 weeks prior to the start of the event on the 14th of February. The balance can be paid off as and when you like, and by how much you like by logging into your booking with your reference number and password.

Can I pay over the phone?

We don’t take payments over the phone, just online. You will be charged 2.5% unless you have a Visa Electron card when it is free of charge. We can’t take payments over the phone because our system uses an online safety verification process which requires you to confirm you unique banking password specific to you and your bank.

EXTRAS

What extras are available to add on to the standard Snowbombing package?

One of the best things about our system is that you can book the minimum package, the accommodation and wristband and then log in to your booking again later to add any other extras you might want.

In addition to your accommodation and event wristband, you can add a selection of exciting optional extras to your package. These include: Ski-hire, Ski lessons, Lift Passes, evening meals, Arctic Disco tickets, Back Country Party, Arctic Hotel, Insurance and Airport Coach Transfers, Coach Travel from the UK and the renowned Snowbombing Road Trip.

See http://www.snowbombing.com/en/book/  for full information of the various Snowbombing packages & extra options available.

Please note:
•    We do not recommend booking extras you will attend (e.g. Arctic Disco, Back Country Party) or use (e.g. Equipment Hire, Lift Pass) on your day or arrival or departure in case of any travel delays that may cause you to miss out.
•    Ski and Snowboard lessons will always begin the day after your arrival day.
•    Extras are bookable until 4 weeks prior to the event. If they are booked after the 24th February then the full cost must be paid straight away to confirm the booking of any Extra. – Extras can be added onto your booking online by logging into “Manage my Booking”.

MANAGE MY BOOKING

How do I log in to manage my booking?

To log into a booking, you will need your booking’s ORDER ID / the lead-booker’s POSTCODE and the lead-booker’s EMAIL ADDRESS.

Click on the “Manage My Booking” tab on the top right of the www.snowboming.com website or click here and add the required details and once logged in you can...
•    Make a payment
•    Add Extras
•    Upgrade NOT downgrade

What happens if i want to cancel my booking / add a passenger / or change the dates of my booking?

If you wish to cancel your booking / add a passenger / change the date, etc, you must call up the  snowbombing helpdesk on: 0845 331 3061 or email us on: info@snowbombing.co.uk

***At this point the Snowbombing team will advise on the options available, any difference in costs and the administration fees that will apply.  If you would like to go ahead with the amendments this will then be processed, and you will then be contacted with confirmation that the changes are complete and asked to log onto their booking to check all is correct.***

A charge will be made for each amendment that you wish to make to your booking.
Charges will be made for the following:
•    Name change: £15
•    Accommodation Date change: £30
•    Adding a passenger to a booking / changing your accommodation: £30
•    Removing an extra: £15

Can I change my accommodation once I have made a booking?

You will need you send your change request through in writing to bookings@snowbombing.com with information on the changes you wish to make.  You will then be contacted by the Snowbombing Team to discuss options, availability and prices.  Please note changes can only me made up to 21 days prior to the event and administration fees will apply.

Where will my apartment be located?

The earlier you book the better chance you have of a more central location however there are no guarantees i.e. if you have booked a centrally located apartment then you will be in the heart of Mayrhofen if you booked early. If you book standard apartment accommodation, we will locate you as near to the centre as possible based on your booking date. All apartments are allocated on booking dates, this year we have the option to book central apartments which will be no more than a 10 minute walk from all the action, if you book a standard apartment you will be in the Ziller Valley area, this could be just outside Mayrhofen or in a number of areas such as Hippach, Ramsau, Bichl up to 4.5km away.

When will I find out which apartment I am staying in?

7 – 14 days before the event all customers will receive their accommodation details, which will include name, full address and contact details along with some essential information on your accommodation.

What exactly is an Austrian Twin bed?

This is one of the MOST common questions we are asked on check-in day!! All rooms that are supplied in Austrian hotels and apartments have Austrian twin beds. These are beds that have two mattresses with two duvets on a double base which cannot be split. When you first look at them they appear    to be double beds...

What do I pay at the time of booking and when is the balance due?

At the time of booking you can secure your place at Snowbombing with a deposit of £125pp. The balance will then be due by the 24th of February, 6 weeks prior to the event, this can be paid as and when you like before this date online.

OPTIONS FOR GROUPS

These have both proved very popular with Snowbombers. For a group it's a great place to come and celebrate birthdays, stags, hens or works do's... But don't expect any back slapping team building exercises.

Is it true that if I get enough friends to come to Snowbombing I could win myself a free ticket?!
In a word, YES. What you earn in free places depends on how many people book through your group homepage. (You can set up a group homepage by filling in our group leader application form on the Prices and Bookings page). Basically, for every 15 places sold, you receive 1 free place. (N.B This means that for every 15 bookings, the 16th booking is free) It's that simple! Our system records all the bookings made through your homepage so you don't have to. Just fill in the application and we'll do the rest.

*The 16th place will need to be paid in full and will be refunded up to 30 days after the event.*

How do I set up a Group Page and become a Group Leader?

The best way to make booking for a number of individuals staying in separate rooms is to establish a group, with you as the Group Leader.
1.    Go to http://www.snowbombing.com/en/book/
2.    At the foot of the page click on Click here to become a group leader! Or just follow this hyperlink.
3.    Complete the required details, agree to the Group Leader Terms & Conditions (or not!) and the click on Submit Application.
4.    We’ll then receive a copy your Group Leader application and activate your group.
5.    You’ll receive an email confirming when this has been done, usually within an hour.
6.    Also noted on this email will be a direct link to your group page i.e. www.snowbombing.com/YOURGROUPNAME

Once your group has been activated, go onto www.snowbombing.com
1.    In the top left hand corner, you’ll see a drop down box entitled “In a group? Find it here”
2.    Scroll down the list of activated groups until you come to the name of your group.
3.    Click on it and then you’re set to make your booking via this group page or via the direct link as noted above.

Points to bear in mind:
1.    You can only make an individual booking per room i.e. if you are making a booking for 2 people in a twin room, this would be one booking, so you would have to make a separate booking, via your group page, for each room or apartment.
2.    Each individual can make their own booking via the group page once activated.
3.    They can then go into their booking to add or pay for various options by going in to The “Manage My Booking” area and noting their Order Confirmation ID, email and postcode to gain access.

OPTIONS FOR SOLO TRAVELLERS

What if I want to come alone?
If you can't coax anyone into coming to  Snowbombing with you, fear not. Last year we had lots of people taking up our solo traveller's option and because there were so many people in the same boat, by the end of the week they knew everyone in the resort!

TRAVEL

How can I get to the Mayrhofen resort?

The standard Snowbombing package does not include transport to the event. Once you have secured your accommodation, you can add various travel options to your booking, including Coach Travel from the UK, Airport Coach Transfers from local airports or if you're adventurous enough, booking your car onto the infamous Snowbombing Road Trip!

(See the Getting There Tab under Prices and Booking for full information on the transport options available.)

Coaches Travel form the UK
There are two travel options –
•    Depart on Saturday 30th March, travel overnight to arrive in Mayrhofen on Sunday 31st March

(Please keep an eye on our news pages for further details on booking facilities.)

Can I book a seat on a transfer coach from the airport to Snowbombing and back again?

Yes. These can be booked on the Extras section. Snowbombing is operating an airport coach transfer service from Innsbruck (INN), Munich (MUC) and Salzburg (SZG) airports on Saturday 30th March, Sunday 31st March and Monday 1st April. The return coach transfers back to these three airports will take place on Saturday 6th April and Sunday 7th April.

My flight is outside the three arrival dates / the two departure dates. Can I book a seat on airport transfer coach?
No. If you’re looking for airport coach transfers outside 30th March, 31st March or 1st April to Mayrhofen or outside 6th or 7th April from Mayrhofen, you’ll need to arrange your own transfer as Snowbombing are not offering any public transfers outside the noted dates.

If I drive there, is there a place I can park my car?

There are limited car parking places throughout the resort, but there is not one main car-park we would recommend to use all week

How much does it cost?

Last year it cost £259 per vehicle with a total of 5 occupants (only one person on the booking needs to add this to the booking).

I’m thinking of bringing a group out in a minibus with over 5 occupants. How do I book this?
If you’re intending travelling with more than 5 occupants per vehicle, then you’ll have to purchase another Snowbombing Road Trip package even if you’re all travelling in the same vehicle.

INSURANCE

a. It is a condition of booking that all passengers travel with a fully comprehensive Winter Sports Holiday Insurance policy that they are acquainted with purchased prior to departure. No liability will be accepted by SBH Events Ltd for any clients travelling without adequate insurance.
b. Many insurance policies that have a winter sports section do not cover you for costs associated with events such as travel delays or piste closure due to too much snow as well as too little. They cover you for medical or cancellation. But there are far more elements to a ski holiday, not least of which is the weather in the mountains! It is important that you check any policy thoroughly and it is a condition of booking that you are covered by a comprehensive winter sports insurance policy of at least equivalent cover to that suggested by us.

MAYRHOFEN – YOUR HOST RESORT

What’s the resort of Mayrhofen like?
We can safely say with all our experience throughout the years on Snow resorts, the accommodation in Mayrhofen wins hands down. The village is traditional, with a great alpine feel ... You won’t see any concrete 70’s blocks here, and it all sits tightly in a huge valley. Everything is a stone’s throw away – the ski lift, bars, nightclubs and restaurants. There is a great vibe throughout the centre with loads of café terraces spilling out on the streets.

The accommodation itself is amazing, whatever your budget, whether you book an alpine apartment or a four star hotel, standards will always be better than your expectations. Families own the hotels, and there is a lot of pride in making them the best for the customers... And you’ll get a nice breakfast included in all hotel and 2 star B+B packages!

Apartments are very spacious with all catering equipment and kitchen area, plus lounge area, and all beds in a separate sleeping area. No pulling the bed out of the bottom of the couch business here folks! Have a look at the accommodation page on the site, or ask anyone who went last year on the forum, you’ll be thoroughly impressed.

One thing though – twin rooms are two mattresses on one bed base, so please don’t be alarmed by the closeness you have to your fellow room-mate. After all we’re all grown adults (morning breath optional).

How reliable is the snow?

Mayrhofen sits at 630m, which granted is quite low in the mountains, but the ski lift takes you up to 1800m in 12 minutes where you will find more snow than you can shake a stick at. A great bonus of going to Mayrhofen for Snowbombing is that it’s nice and warm – spring rays will mean you can go boarding or skiing in your t-shirt, and hang out on the terraces for food and drink in the sunshine. Of course, no resort in the world can ever guarantee perfect snow, but Mayrhofen does a pretty good job, with the Tux Glacier within easy reach (with snow 365 days a year), and an army of snow cannons.
For more information on the snow in Mayrhofen, visit the Snow and Piste page.

Is it suitable for Beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers/boarders?

Mayrhofen has the slopes to cater for all ability of rider. For info on the piste, please go to the Snow and piste page.

What if I can’t ski or snowboard?

Don’t worry, plenty of Snowbombers have never been to the mountains before! If you want to ski/board we provide tuition ranging from 3, 4, or 5x2 hr sessions for both skiing and snowboarding.

Night Shuttle Bus Explained

There is a ski bus that tours all of the surrounding areas of Mayrhofen (including Hippach & Ramsau) that runs every 30 minutes during the day up until 5.30pm.

When this bus stops, there will be a night bus running the same route every 30 minutes. This will run until the early hours of the morning, meaning you will be able to get back to your accommodation with ease when leaving the late night music venues.
The bus is free... So get on it!

THE FESTIVAL

What makes Snowbombing the world’s greatest show on snow?!

Snowbombing is like no other event you’ve been to and even we have trouble trying to describe what makes it work so well…!
If you are a boarder or a skier then Snowbombing offers a huge glacial resort, perfect for spring skiing. If you have never been snowboarding or skiing before, then this is the perfect time to try. We pride ourselves on the fact that everyone is welcome to the event, hundreds come and learn how to ski or board, because there is no pressure - we stay away from all that elitism!

Snowbombing makes a real change to your average music festival or event. The music and surroundings are breathtaking and there’s this great vibe created by spending a week partying and sharing the slopes with everyone.
Ask the Snowbombers on the forum for more personal anecdotes and to find out what you can expect!

When can I see the line-up schedule?

For  Snowbombing we like to add a bit of excitement by adding new artists to the line up as we get closer to the event. We have not yet announced any acts for  Snowbombing 2012, but watch this space... With artist negotiations firmly underway, we are expecting this year to have the biggest and best line-up yet... If you can believe it! You can expect to see the majority of the schedule finished by Christmas, however keep your eyes on the website as we update the line up constantly.

Are the parties on the mountain or in the village?

We have on-piste entertainment at the Van’s Penken park as part of the pro rider sessions called Ride and Seek, as well as daily warm up and cool down sessions with Mr Motivator at the Pilz bar stage at the top of the Penken lift station. The Pilz bar also has DJ’s playing throughout the day. As optional extras we also provide tickets to the Arctic Disco (an igloo at the top of the Ahorn mountain hosting raves with previous artists including James Zabiela & Fatboy Slim!) and the back country party.

The main artist performances take place at ground level in the Village of Mayrhofen across 9 separate venues. For more details please go the venue tab on the music page.

Where are good places to eat/drink?

With a total of 43 restaurants and 18 bars, you will never be short of options for refuelling (and that's not even including the facilities on the mountain!) The great thing about Mayrhofen is that you will not find any of the extortionate food and drinks prices so common to many European resorts. Beer will set you back only a couple of Euros, and considering Austria drinks more Grolsch than anywhere else in Europe, be sure there will be no shortage!
Food is also reasonably priced so you shouldn't find yourself burning through as much cash during the day as most ski holidays: in short something for all bellies; be it the home reared organic steaks at the Sneekarhutte to the fine Tyrolean fayre of the Zum Griener, to pizzas the size of Wales at the UFO pizzeria... Or every Snowbombers best friend: Hans the Butchers take-a-way opposite the Penken lift station.

WHAT TO BRING

If you’ve never been to a snow resort before, here’s a little rundown on what you need to bring…
•    Plenty of waterproofs – ski pants and jacket are the best.
•    Layers – these will keep you warmer than one big jacket
•    Sun cream – the climate is very deceiving… It’s easy to get burnt, even if you think there isn’t much sun, the altitude makes you more susceptible to the UV. Make sure you bring plenty of decent sun cream (not bronzing oil!), and some high factor stuff for your lips.
•    Sunglasses/ Goggles – same as above – make sure they are decent and they actually protect you from the sun. Wearing them on your head does look quite cool, but won't really help!
•    Footwear – Bring a decent pair of boots. Essential if you’re participating in the Arctic Disco and Back Country Party.
•    Board/Ski – These are available to hire in the resort, or you can bring your own, there's plenty of space on the transfer buses and it's no extra charge.
And if you’ve never been on a Snowbombing holiday, then here’s what to bring:
•    Glad rags – Bring plenty of going out clothes for the week, both for cold weather and warm weather... It gets sweaty in them clubs!
•    Fancy Dress – We have special club nights where you can wear certain fancy dress outfits... If however, you don't feel liberated in wearing daft clothing, please feel free to wear whatever you like!
•    Towel and Swimwear – so you can make good use of all the swimming and well-being facilities when you’re there.

How much spending money will I need to bring / budget for?

This really depends how frivolous your spending is, how expensive your taste is, and how much you plan on drinking, but we would say a nice mid-ground benchmark would be budgeting 30-50 Euros a day, but we’ve seen Snowbombers do it on a lot less, and a lot more.
