CALVIN HARRIS; fresh from creating Disco (the man who wrote ‘Acceptable in the 80’s’) ironically winds up in Austria (a land still stuck in them).
Calvin Harris Online.

If you locked The Libertines, The Kaisers and The Undertones in a cable car overnight with a 24 pack of Tetley’s ‘Smoothflow’ and some guitars, THE PIGEON DETECTIVES would emerge blinking and burping in the dawn light. So catchy is their poptastic new single ‘I Found Out’, you’re probably singing it even as you read this (either way you’ll be singing it next April!)
The Pigeon Detectives Online.

2006 was a buy year for Dirty Pretty Things, they scored a Top 5 single with Bang Bang You’re Dead, a Top 20 single, Deadwood, and their debut album Waterloo To Anywhere was certified gold and entered the UK charts at Number 3. They played three sell-out tours of the UK, including two sold out shows at London’s Brixton Academy in December. The band are currently putting the finishing touches to their, as yet to be titled, second album, which was recorded in LA during November/December 2007. So look out for the second coming of DPT at Snowbombing 2008. Dirty Pretty Things Online.

Signed to the notorious Domino records Lightspeed Champion, formerly Dev of Test Icicles, has rejected the punky guitars (well mostly) in favour of a more folky pop feel. Of course there's a twist; with profanity-ridden songs such as All To Shit and I Could Have Done This Myself (about his first traumatic tops-off encounter with a lady), a stud he ain't, but as ever, womankind's loss is rock'n'roll's gain. Lightspeed Champion Online.

Formed out of the ashes of the St Albans hardcore band they formed while still at school, Friendly Fires make razor-sharp post-punk that burns through the memories of all the dismal, skinny jeaned ‘80s revivalists you’ve been hearing these past few years. Label mates to Hot Chip, Bloc Party and Kate Nash, with brittle, knotty and urgent sound, Friendly Fires are the real deal, expect to dance – a lot. Friendly Fires Online.

Does It Offend You, Yeah? are a pastiche of Everything That’s Great About French Dance Music, taking the vocoded choruses of Daft Punk, the frenzied samples of SebastiAn and the the grimy glitchtronica of Justice and bringing it together in a most holy union of dancey electronica. In simpler terms, they sound like they’ve “been eating Daft Punk and Justice tunes for three days and just took a giant electro shit”. Does it offend you yeah? Online.

Counting Squeeze, Ian Dury and the Beastie Boys among their biggest influences. The Metros are an extraordinary – if somewhat chaotic – fusion of punk, funk, rockabilly, pop with witty lyrics about bunking trains, the degradation of the Welfare State, nights out for a tenner and old Cockney lags with sawn-off shooters.
Metros Online.

Royworld make ambitious, stadium-bound pop, influenced by the likes of Tears For Fears, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel and The Arcade Fire. Signed to Label Fandango, the exclusive indie-mungous seven inch singles club and managed by the team behind Test Icicles and Mika, these are definiately ones to watch!
Royworld Online.

Plastic Little exists in a special place somewhere between Jay-Z and Star Wars, between drug filled after parties and Harry Potter, between drunken one night stands and Sunday calls to momma, between Southern bounce and East Coast rap aesthetic, and between debauchery and virtue... Having toured the US and the UK Plastic Little are ready to bring their very distinctive sound to Snowbombing 2008. Plastic Little Online.
