When can I see the schedule? For Snowbombing we like to add a bit of excitement by adding new artists to the line up as we get closer to the event. You can expect to see the schedule finished by Christmas. Keep coming back to the website though as we update the line up constantly.
How do I get there?Full information can be found on the Getting There page.
What time to the Coaches leave?Coach departures are usually confirmed between 1 and 2 weeks prior to the event.
Click here to view last years departure times.
BookingBookings should be made online by Visa, Debit Card, Switch, Solo or MasterCard. The standard fee of 2.5% for bookings is applicable.
In addition we have options for GROUPS and for SOLO travellers. These have both proved very popular with Snowbombers. For a group it’s a great place to come and celebrate birthdays, stags, hens or works do’s…but don’t expect any back slapping team building exercises. If you cant rope anyone into going with you, we have offers available for solo travellers - last year we had a lots of people taking this option up and because there are lot of people in the same boat by the end of the week they knew everyone in the resort!
What does the package include?Standard Packages are sold as accommodation only packages (including event wristband). This means, you will have to purchase your flights and transfer or however you want to get to the event additionally. On top of this, you can book any extra options, such as ski pass, ski hire, lessons, or any of the exciting extras that Snowbombing offers such as skidooing.
See the
Prices Guide page for full information of available extra option.
Whichever package you buy – even if you just purchase accommodation, you’ll get a wristband, which means ALL YOUR ENTERTAINMENT IS FREE. Many people have thought that when they get to snowbombing, they will have to pay to enjoy the many different DJs, live artists and entertainment advertised for the event. This most definitely is not the case! Your wristband gets you free entry into all Snowbombing events and entertainment: parties featuring the best live acts and DJs in the world in amazing locations and a huge programme of alternative events and entertainment. Some Snowbombers do tend to take full advantage of this offer by going out to every single night until the last record is played…. good on ‘em…It also ensures you get the best drinks prices and big discounts for extreme activities (500 cc snow bike riding, paragliding, tobogganing etc) and in restaurants and shops. Everything is taken care of- basically; it ensures that you have the time of your life from start to finish.
We welcome you to try and go and find a cheaper holiday featuring all the entertainment that we offer. People have tried it in the past, and found themselves faced with hidden extras and costs have escalated. We have six years experience, and we always get the best prices, we do all the hard work so all you have to do is worry about how you want to spend your time. What’s more, our package has incorporated a big discount on the value of the wristband, which you will be unable to purchase seperately. Having no wristband will mean you cant get free entry into any of the events that go on throughout the week.
How reliable is the snow?Mayrhofen sits at 630m, which granted is quite low in the mountains, but the ski lift takes you up to 1800m in 12 minutes where you will find more snow than you can shake a stick at. Another great advantage is its nice and warm – spring sunshine will mean you can go boarding or skiing in your t-shirt, or hang out on the terraces for food and drink. Of course, no resort in the world can ever guarantee perfect snow, but Mayrhofen does a pretty good job, with the Tux Glacier within easy reach (with snow 365 days a year), and an army of snow cannons.
For more information, look on the
Snow & Piste page.
What to bringIf you’ve never been to a snow resort before, here’s a little rundown on what you need to bring…
- Bring plenty of waterproofs – ski pants and jacket are the best.
- Bring layers – these will keep you warmer than one big jacket
- Suncream – the climate is very deceiving…its easy to get burnt, even if you think there isn’t much sun, the altitude makes you more susceptible to the sun. Make sure you bring plenty of decent sun cream (not bronzing oil!), and some high factor stuff for your lips.
- Sunglasses/ Goggles – same as above – make sure they are decent and they actually protect you from the sun. Wearing them on your head does look quite cool, but won't really help!
- Footwear – Bring a decent pair of boots
- Board/Ski – These are available to hire in the resort, or you can bring your own, theres plenty of space on the transfer buses andit's no extra charge.
And if you’ve never been on a Snowbombing holiday, then here’s what to bring:
- Glad rags – Bring plenty of going out clothes for the week both for cold weather and warm weather – it gets sweaty in them clubs!
- Fancy Dress – We have special club nights where you can wear certain fancy dress outfits – if however, you don't feel liberated in wearing daft clothing, then please feel free to wear whatever you like!
- Towel and Swimwear – so you can make good use of all the swimming and well-being facilities when you’re there.
Who Goes?Snowbombing is like no other event that you’d have ever been to, and we have trouble ourselves trying to describe what makes it work…If you are a boarder or a skier then Snowbombing offers a huge glacial resort, perfect for spring skiing. If you have never been snowboarding or skiing before then this is the perfect time to try – we pride ourselves on the fact that everyone is welcome to the event – hundreds come and learn how to ski or board – because there is no pressure, we stay away from all that elitism! It also makes a real change to your average music festival or event - the music and surroundings is breathtaking. Then there’s this great vibe, which is created by spending a week partying and sharing the slopes with everyone. Ask the Snowbombers on the forum and find out from them what you can expect!
But isn’t Austria expensive? We had quite a lot of people asking us this last year, so we thought we’d dispel anyone’s ideas on Austria being expensive. It isn’t. If you’ve ever been to Switzerland or France before, the price of food and drink can get really expensive. In Austria you can expect to pay about 3.5 Euros for a pint (about £2.20), you can grab a snack for as little as 1.20 Euros (about 70p!) for a meat sandwich to 10 Euros (about £7) for a nice 3-course meal. There’s loads of supermarkets where you can buy pretty much everything you can buy in the UK – yes even pot noodles and rich tea biscuits. Another important thing is we make sure all the bars keep the prices the same all over the resort – so you don’t have to worry about locals trying to rip you off because they think your from the UK and loaded.
AccommodationWe can safely say with all our experience throughout the years on Snow resorts, the accommodation in Mayrhofen wins hands down. The village is traditional, with a great alpine feel – you wont see any concrete 70’s blocks here, and it all sits tightly in a huge valley. Everything is a stones throw away – the ski lift, bars, nightclubs and restaurants. There is a great vibe throughout the centre with loads of café terraces spilling out on the streets. The accommodation itself is amazing – whatever your budget – whether you book an apartment or a four star, standards will always be better than your expectations. Families own the hotels, and there is a lot of pride in making them the best for the customers. And you’ll get a nice breakfast included in all hotel and 2 star B+B packages. Apartments are very spacious with all catering equipment and kitchen area, plus lounge area, and all beds in a separate sleeping area. No pulling the bed out of the bottom of the couch business here folks. Have a look at the accommodation page on the site, or ask anyone who went last year on the forum, you’ll be thoroughly impressed. One thing though – twin rooms are two mattresses on one bed base, so please don’t be alarmed by the closeness you have to your fellow room mate. After all we’re all grown adults (morning breath optional).
