Example

A year ago, on 4 September 2011, he released his third album, ‘Playing In The Shadows’. It went to number one, and has since gone platinum. Two of the singles from it, ‘ChangeThe Way You Kiss Me’ and ‘Stay Awake’, also went to number one. Chart success translated into live success, and this year he sold-out a 14-date UK arena tour, played humongous slots at Creamfields, T In The Park and V, and became one of the most exciting live acts on earth.

Katy B

The versatile London, England-based Katy B (aka Baby Katy, Baby Katie), a garage/dubstep vocalist inspired by the likes of Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, and Gwen Stefani, first gained notice with "Tell Me," a 2006 single produced by DJ NG. A series of other features followed, including lead turns on Jelly Jams' "I Try," Geeneus' "Good Life" (a cover of the late-'80s Inner City house classic), and the Count & Sinden's "Hold Me." All of those tracks preceded the release of her first proper solo single. "Katy on a Mission," produced by Benga, was issued on Rinse in 2010. The album On a Mission was released the following April and debuted at number two on the U.K. album chart. Nominated for the 2011 Mercury Prize, it was issued that September in the U.S.

Above & Beyond

If one word sums up the phenomenon of Above & Beyond then that is surely it. Whether it’s the thousands of A&B fans singing their lyrics back at them in concert halls from Beirut to Brixton, or the millions that tune in for their weekly TATW radio show, connection – real human connection - is at the heart of all things that define Above & Beyond.

Much like acts like The Smiths or Joy Division before them, Above & Beyond find themselves embedded at the heart of their fan’s lives. Some walk down the wedding isle to their songs, others ink their bodies with their lyrics, often a proud couple will choose to get engaged at one of their gigs. All that pledge their loyalty to them, are moved in a way that goes beyond most electronic music out there.

Disclosure

The duo's recent release, The Face EP (Greco-Roman), alongside their unforgettable remix of Jessie Ware's 'Running' - received a rapturous reaction, with tracks Boiling, What's In Your Head and Control, dominating playlists (200+ plays across Radio 1 and 1xtra on the EP alone) and dance floors throughout Europe, Australia and the US - where they now have a national tour kicking off in October.

As with Boiling and Control, which saw the boys forgoing samples and embracing the use of live vocalists for the first time, Latch features the silky styling's of newcomer Sam Smith, delicately building into a heavy-pulsing chorus, laying way to euphoric breaks and glossy vocal overtones.

Foreign Beggars

Foreign Beggars are a critically acclaimed Rap, Grime and Dubstep group based in London, UK. Having successfully changed the face of, UK hip hop in the last decade, Foreign Beggars' recent output has been a genre-defying blend of their former machinations and speaker-busting, dancefloor rumbling dance music produced by the hottest artists around. 2009's 'Contact' (3,000,000 views on YouTube), taken from their third album, saw them combine furious London-fuelled flows with Noisia's crunching electro backbone - the start of what has become Foreign Beggars' new obsession; fusing hip hop with dance music.

Dub Pistols

The Dub Pistols' Barry Ashworth is a fearless soldier working behind the frontlines of the UK's thriving dance music scene. Barry began his musical journey by working as a club promoter, later heading off to exotic Ibiza where he established two (in) famous club nights: Monkey Drum and Naked Lunch. Partying with the same intensity in which he's made his bristling music (oh, the stories we'd tell you if we weren't sworn to secrecy), the Dub Pistols were born in 1996 when Barry - who has also remixed tracks forthe likes of Moby, Limp Bizkit and Filter - solidified his beat-heavy sound. Later that same year, he signed three EPs to England1s Concrete label (There's Gonna Be A Riot, Westway and Best Got Better) and hasn't looked back.

DJ

Carl Cox

A musical ambassador since he was in short trousers, a professional DJ since his early teens, a veteran of acid house and a champion of techno. As a founder of the sound, Carl rode the exploding British rave scene. He played the opening night of Danny Rampling's legendary Shoom, co-promoted The Project with Paul Oakenfold, held a residency at the Zap Club in Brighton and at the Sunrise rave in 1988, hooked up a third turntable for his dawn-breaking set, got 15,000 kids back on their feet, and established a personal rep for three-deck wizardry.

You name it, Carl's been there and done it, never losing sight of his passions - playing music, breaking tunes, spreading love and celebrating life.

Seth Troxler

Through a leaking bodily cavity resembling the pork found in Chinese restaurants, Satan shat out a crystal beaming with glowing red embers. This crystal matured into the fetus of Seth Troxler. Seth was placed on earth as a weeping fetus, the sound of inevitability. As he grew, his ancestral roots took on a magnetic channeling power, more than his feeble mind could ever consciously fathom. As a result, he became capable of creating some of the world's finest and most intuitive dance cuts, including releases and remixes on Spectral, Wagon Repair, Crosstown Rebels, M_nus, Bpitch Control, Circus Company, Items and Thing and many more...

Maceo Plex

Located deep within the circuitry of a mechanical alien host known as Maetrik you will find a complex web of synaptic dispersements resembling what could be called a soul. And this soul which drives it's host and manipulates it's every move is finally beginning to emerge. Its name is Maceo Plex. The emergence of such an entity has been the result of a need for feeling, a need for interplanetary funk. We as humans consider this need a feeling, a feeling rooted in emotion, and emotion being the very basis of humanity.

Simian Mobile Disco

James and Jas of Simian Mobile Disco, though quite different in personality, are both modest fellows. In conversation each of them, more than once, puts the success of SMD down to sheer luck – however, this is not really true. Yes, they were in the right place at the right time in some senses, but it takes an awful lot more than that to bring an album as sonically glorious and ambitious as Unpatterns to as broad an audience as they are managing to reach. And as you get deeper into the details of their career to date, it becomes very clear how much tenacity, scholarship, imagination and sheer love for what they do, as well as good fortune, has got them to where they are today.

Dixon

In his native Berlin Dixon is a dead set legend. For almost 20 years Dixon has been one of the main protagonists of House music in Berlin and has tirelessly worked away since the early 90's to carve out a niche for House music in a predominantly techno dominated city. Believe the hype; Dixon spends hours trying to find and select the right music to achieve the levels of intensity that is needed; hours spent planning the imminent night's structure and proceedings, and then hours spent putting it into action. Dixon is always more than happy to spend this much time on his performance as he takes his profession seriously; in fact, it is exactly what matters most to him as he has always been, and he always will be, a DJ first.

Ame

Where do connections to detroit, chicago, new york, berlin and paris all emerge? No, it is not the frankfurt airport because this city is even another part of it. Geographically it might not make any sense but music-wise we are definitely talking about karlsruhe here. In the little town in very western germany all these cities influences join forces in the studio of frank wiedemann and kristian beyer, together forming the duo âme (speak: ahm, = french for soul). Their soulful mission to explore far beyond the borders of house music already captured the attention all major peeps involved in present club music. Delivering constant quality with 12's that are rocking house, techno and broken beat floors alike it seems like a logical move to proceed to the next step of releasing a collection of their winners.

Mosca

Mosca could not have survived 30 years ago. His first release in 2010, the Square One EP that kick-started the Night Slugs label, was just a continuation of a long standing love affair with all types of club music, from deep house and techno to rowdy dancehall and early grime. Mosca's refusal to stick to one or two sounds certainly doesn't make life easy - he is a journalist's nightmare as well as a critic's dream - but there are common threads that link his work. His sense of rhythm and groove is perhaps the key, the element that stops that heavy UK bassline from ever weighing too heavily.

With electronic music becoming more polished and quantized, Boddika’s arrival has shaken the scene to its very core, slamming down with a raw take on things that’s making all journalists scramble for the right genre tag. Is it electro? Techno? Old? New? Harking the expansive sounds of Luke Vibert, the analogue programming of Juan Atkins early work, and the rawness of the Drexciya/Dopplereffekt family, Boddika is  the newest project of Al Green, 1/2 of the boundary-pushing duo that’s re-written the rules completely, Instra:mental.

Mickey Pearce

Mickey Pearce first made a name as Shortstuff, back in 2009, when people were still asking stupid questions like what do you call it? He released records on Ramp Recordings and Punch Drunk, before establishing his own label and signing early material from Bok Bok and Dark Sky. Never happy unless being truly original, Mickey released his last record under the Shortstuff moniker in summer 2010 and retreated to the studio, only popping up for select remix duties. 12 months on, having found a new home on Loefah’s Swamp 81 label, 2012 is the start of something altogether different.

Bicep

Bicep are a duo that hail from Belfast, brought together through a common obsession with all things analog. Their blog, Feel My Bicep, has grown to be the first port of call for those searching for cutting-edge and hard-to-find disco (nu and old) / chicago-house / detroit techno / italo / edits and the like. Growing with an amalgamation of jazz, rock and funk helped Bicep form an obscure approach and understanding of music. After each picking up a pair of Technics turntables in their early teens, Andy and Matt set about collecting records and experimenting to find their own style. Skip forward several years and countless DJ gigs and they realized they needed to make their own brand- succumbing to, as Bicep describe it, “80s inspired analog house“.

George Fitzgerald

The last few years have been as experimentally freewheeling as any in the history of electronic music, and there are few finer examples to support this argument than London-born and bred beatsmith, George FitzGerald. With releases on Hotflush, Aus, and his own imprint, ManMakeMusic, his productions combine with exceptional style and grace with both the warmer, melodic sides of house and garage as well as the more heated, pounding drum patterns of dubstep and techno.

Midland

Midland made his 2010 debut alongside longtime friend Pearson Sound with their anthemic "Your Words Matter",a track that would go on to be placed in DJ Mag's "100 most important house records" feature. Within the track, the pair wove, defied and played with a number of genres and, in doing so, Midland laid a clear foundation stone for his vision of how electronic music could be. It is a sound that is rooted in Hous and Techno but with the rumbling low end of Dubstep and wide screen experimentation of classic Electronica.

System of Survival

If unassuming isn't one of the adjectives that usually springs to mind when thinking of prolific and talented DJ producers, then more's the pity really. Not just your average DJ duo, System of Survival are Pietro 'Bingo' De Lisi and Alex Carpentieri, affectionately known on the island of Ibiza as Bingo & Alex, and very affectionately is generally how they are best known. Living, working, producing and playing together the pair have a rare and instinctive relationship formed over 20 years of partnership. A mix session isn't divided into a simple one on/one off formula; in the same way that their productions deliver such a warm, cohesive and well-rounded sound, behind the decks as in the studio, this is a case of 2 halves easily making up the whole.

Alex Niggemann

Persistent, stubborn, straight ahead! - Alex Niggemann can be best described as idiosyncratic, impulsive and selfcritical. What might be construed as negative for some people, are attributes that have paved the way to a remarkable career for this DJ and producer. One of the things that distinguishes Alex Niggemann‘s style is that it‘s hard to define. This headstrong producer isn‘t inte- rested in sub-genres and likes to describe himself as a House DJ. He produces and plays whatever suits him at the moment: from dark tech house to vocal-heavy house music. Either way, he‘s always right on target with the club crowds who dance to his music all night long – all over the world. Wherever his mood takes him, the club scene will be paying close attention to what comes next on Alex Niggemann‘s turntables.

Huxley

Hard earned respect from your peers is a rare commodity but Huxley, aka Michael Dodman, has it in spades. Since his late teens he’s been producing, seeing initial underground success as a garage producer before his sound partly mutated towards a deeper, house-based sound in the past few years. Going forward, there’s more of the impeccable same and more than a smattering of surprises on the way from Huxley. Singles for his tight knit group of labels (he just describes them as ‘mates’), more collaborative projects with the likes of Sam Russo and Ethyl, production projects for vocalists (he’s not naming names) and carefully chosen remixes are all on the way and, if anyone who has heard recent sets for Rinse FM and Fact Magazine will know, more on-point DJ sets that span house, garage, techno and beyond.

Dusky have tapped into something, a universal - an essence that excites DJs and clubbers across the dance divide.

Venues

With sky high igloo parties, open-air forest raves, secret backcountry shindigs and Austria's biggest fancy dress street party... At Snowbombing, we tear up the rulebook and dare you to dance somewhere different.

Party In the Forest

"The Arctic Disco is a venue to knock your socks off each time you see it and the Forest stage is something quite special... I'd love to go back..." - Virtual Festivals

The now famous Waldfestplatz (the amazing Eristoff forest where Dizzee Rascal, Labrinth, The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, De la Soul, Krafty Kuts, Madness, 2ManyDJs and many more have played) will once again see the whole population of Mayrhofen donning their scarves and winter warmers and heading to the woods for a few amazing planned performances. Where better to party than in the middle of the woods in an Alpine mountain town.

We turn the surrounding traditional Austrian shacks into bars and sausage factories, bring down a massive sound system and stadium size video screen and turn the old wooden stage (usually reserved for lederhosen-slapping dance troops and local weddings) into a pine-cradled platform for some of the world's best artists!

The Barclaycard Arctic Disco

The coolest party you'll ever attend!

"Keep your Full Moon parties and tell Ibiza to go jump, because once you've danced in an igloo on top of a mountain in the Austrian Alps, nothing really comes close." - TNT Mag

Sat on a plateau high above Mayrhofen, is a party venue unlike any other you will ever visit. Sculpted from eternal ice and snow; the Barclaycard Arctic Disco is a destination without equal. A meandering corridor leads to two dance areas; a chill out space complete with luxurious fur rugs and three bars (the house speciality is a cocktail served in ice glasses). Outside, star gazers sip warm drinks around a roaring fire and gaze in wonder at the unique atmospheric display viewable at this altitude. Partying doesn't get any cooler. Literally.

Although its reputation as a star-lit night-time party venue is strong, the Barclaycard Arctic Disco is also a fantastic daytime chill-out venue... Enjoy the beats and spring sunshine, reclining in deckchairs, or better still, book yourself an igloo and stay overnight on the mountain! There's a sauna and the world's cosiest sleeping bags to keep yourselves warm. File under; 'One to tell the grand kids about,' basically.

(The Igloo is open to all in the daytime but tickets for the night events need to be booked and paid for in addition to your standard Snowbombing entertainment wristband.)

The Barclaycard Arctic Disco costs a mere 44GBP and is worth every penny. Barclaycard Arctic Disco tickets will be on sale soon.

This year's dates for The Barclaycard Arctic Disco will be:

- Sunday 31st March

- Monday 1st April

- Wednesday 3rd April

- Saturday 6th April

Street Party

Its a roadblock... Literally!

''Unbelievable - Like an explosion in a fancy dress shop'' - Mr Motivator

We stop the traffic, park a stadium rock Funktion 1 P.A system in the street, set up loads of bars and invite the entire population of Mayrhofen to join the fancy dress party.

The street party is undoubtedly one of the highlights of Snowbombing. It kicks off in the mid-afternoon after a full day on the slopes, culminating in darkness in the late evening. Fancy dress themes having included: Superheroes, mythical heroes, animals, inflatable Viking ships, retro-skiwear... And Bill Oddie.

Last year's fancy dress code was The Olympic Games; with international teams and Olympic icons descending on the street party from all over the resort. They all danced in the street as the sun went down beneath one banner to a soundtrack straight outta your dreams...

The Racket Club

An overhead smash!

During Snowbombing, this vast underground tennis centre is completely transformed to create a 2000 capacity festival venue. Massive sound system, huge dance floor and a subterranean vibe which is unmatched across the mountains. Going underground has never been as much fun (well not since the great Circle Line party of 2008)!

Handily located in the middle of town, our host venue has witnessed some electrifying live sets over the last few years: DJ Shadow, Groove Armada Presents Redlight, The Vaccines, Booka Shade,  Sub Focus, Chase & Status, Example, DJ Yoda, Magnetic Man, Pendulum, Grandmaster Flash, Dizzee Rascal, The Enemy and Friendly Fires to name a few.

Production values at the Racket Club are worthy of any venue... Sound is crystal clear and lighting is state-of-the-art. As every Snowbomber knows, there's nothing like a bit of Raquet to make the party swing.

Schlussel

Sauna Clubbing!

Affectionately nick-named the 'sweat-box' by Snowbombing regulars, this traditional wooden venue is always a favourite: Yer traditional wooden Austrian alpine holiday disco with beefed up sound and lights, which results in a uniquely steamy atmosphere...

DJs who have rocked the Schlussel include James Zabiela, Henrik Schwarz, Jackmaster, Jaguar Skills, Bones, Nic Fanciulli, Moodymann, Ewan Pearson, Todd Terje, Greg Wilson, Kris Menace and Jamie Jones...

"Baby, it might be cold outside, but at Snowbombing everything is sweltering." - NME

Arena

The late, late show!

One of our favourite DJ venues and always kicking until the small hours is the Arena. Nestling naughtily beneath our HQ Hotel (The Strass), the Arena has seen a long list of superstar DJs over the years including Tayo and his ever colourful Tracksuit Party, Rodigan, Toddla T, Joker, Shy FX, Skream, Fake Blood, DJ Yoda, Jon Carter, Justin Robertson, DJ Marky, James Zabiela and many many more... Open until 6am with banging sound, the Arena was the place to be.

Backcountry Party

This Party Is A Trip

You get taken by coach though the centre of a mountain (in a 2 km long tunnel) to "the forgotten valley" of Floitental. The coach then climbs up the steep sided valley (snow conditions allowing) through a wild forest, past the waterfall, to snowfields which lead to the Tux, glacier. Here you'll spend your evening in a unique venue: the 300 year old Tristenbachalm: A converted traditional wooden farmstead which possesses a sound system, split level bars, balcony, minstrels gallery, stage and...Decks of course!

"The atmosphere is so far removed from the gloom back home it's like stepping into another world." - IDJ magazine

Outside on the terrace, traditional musicians play and fires will keep you warm under the stars, as plucky souls Challenge the Lumberjack in a series of tree-trunk lifting and log-carrying tests of strength, spirit and sobriety...

The BCP costs a mere 39GBP and is worth every penny.

Dates for this years BCP are: Monday 1st April & Wednesday 3rd April!

See here for more details including Line-Ups!

Sports Bar

Intimate and infectious

Hosting apres ski fun and games on the terrace outside, followed by a line-up of fantastic DJs in the evening, this centrally located and intimate venue has seen some of Snowbombings best gigs over the past few years.

Last year the Sports Bar was themed 'Raver's Return', and played host to Pat Sharp's One Hit Wonders party, Raffle Mafia, Squeaky Hill, Urban Nerds, Cuban Brothers and much more!

"Summer's going to have to pull something seriously heavy out of the bag to top this." - IDJ Magazine

Mountain Stage

Higher than the clouds

"The sun sets behind some of the most stunning scenery you're ever likely to clap your eyes on." - IDJ Magazine

Snowbombing afternoons are spent beneath blue skies at 5000 feet above sea level, drinking cool golden beer (and er, eating golden chips), and being aurally massaged by the only arena which sees the stage manager leave work on a paraglider!

It's just another day at the office for the mountain stagers who catch springtime sunshine to a cheese-free mountain musical soundtrack (and if you've ever been on a normal ski holiday, you'll appreciate just what this means!). A unique aspect of Snowbombing.

Pro-Rider Party In The Park

Don't try this at home!

The park in question being the Vans Penken Park; a gravity-abusing play area comprising of more kickers than a Pub football team, a half pipe the size of the Eurotunnel, genital-threatening rails and table tops of epic proportions. Watch from the of the nearby Almhof, sit back in the sun or enjoy one of Christine's perfect pizza's on the Terrace, as people invariably younger and decidedly more talented than you, show how it's done to a cool soundtrack provided by a selection of DJ's.

2012 saw the board park host Norman Jay's Carnival Bus parked at the bottom of the park, Norman Jay was accompained by Skream, Jackmaster, Mistajam and Artwork for a battle disco royal!

The pro-comp is three days of true grit and false moustache's all washed down with copious amounts of schnapps and dancing on the Sun terrace of a nearby mountain restaurant. Fancy dress-clad teams leisurely tour the ski area, undertaking tasks and overtaking common sense and decorum. Imagine a dressing up party for 6 year olds meets Ski Sunday.

Snowbombers complete a boarder cross course on which there are prizes hidden inside objects. A balloon-popping, swag-bag grabbing test of snowboarding skills, balance and nerve.

Pro-riders do exactly the same... Skillfully navigate a praline course through the award-winning terrain-park... Except as they're professionals - and get paid for it - They collect cash as they descend in a money-grabbing, yet graceful demonstration of their earning power!

Mo's

Savoury Bites and Juicy Fun

Slightly more chilled and serving food until late, the parties in Mo's revolve around participation. From the Open Mic Nights and Musical Blingo to Raffle Mafia's Higher or Lower, Mo's is more gregarious than Graham Norton and tastier than Keeley Hazell with a reputation for informal interactive fun with steaks, burgers and chicken wings!

Bruck N Stadl

The Bruck N Stadl has instantly become a favourite for Snowbombers and artists alike. This traditional looking giant wooden venue boasts a capacity of 750 and has a huge funktion 1 sound system, resulting in a unique atmosphere crossed between a Tyrolean bar / shed and an East-London Warehouse rave. We love this venue and we think you will too.

DJs who have rocked the Bruck N Stadl include: James Zabiela, Jamie Jones, Carl Craig, Ewan Pearson, Todd Terje, Ramadanman, Dixon, Oneman, SBTRK and many more.

Rompa's Reggae Shack

SB:12 unvailed a brand new mountain music venue courtesy of Urban Nerds legend and Snowbombing veteran Rompa! Rompa's Reggae Shack showcased the smoothest most laidback joints in a stunning alpine setting, on a purpose-built sun terrace some 5000 feet above sea level, with spectacular views over the surrounding slopes.

Situated at the bottom of Red 7, on the right hand side in the 'Eisberg Hutte', the Reggae Shack stocked the finest roots, ska and dub nuggets. DJs on rotation included Mistajam, Tayo, Fattie Boom Boom, Savage Henry, Daddy Nature, Dusty Lungs, Sai, and The Farm Yardies.

Ice Bar

After cruising the slopes all day, jump on a ski lift and skid straight into the Ice Bar for Snowbombing's Apres Ski shindigs! With a banging system, decent drinks and a party led line-up featuring troublemakers Cuban Brothers,Raffle Mafia and a host of Snowobmbing acts doing something a bit different, the Ice Bar makes for the perfect transition from the piste to the party!

Every night at Snowbombing, we make sure that there is enough room across all of our clubs for everyone to go out and have a wicked time. In some cases, our venues do reach capacity and we have to direct Snowbombers to other parties. Please bear with us on this issue... We do our utmost to make sure everyone is happy!
