only every morning! (My neighbour's still not got any curtains) HAAW haw.

Dan, you know about the economy and that - what I want to know is - this wave of debt which began with the sub-prime markets fiddle and has then moved on through banks governments and now currencies - instead of letting the system collapse, someone has stood in and attempted to stop the impact, but then its taken them down and the next institution steps in and so on - now the euro will crumble unless Germany absorbs the impact -somewhere the buck has to stop doesnt it? when germany crumbles is our only hope China?, or will they just wait til we're all on our knees and then march through the streets whipping anyone who doesnt cower down?

    I don't know. All I know is:

*Every Western Nation that is remotely large enough to count runs a deficit as a matter of course, and have done for many years.
*No-one can adequately explain who they borrow this money from, who is in charge of that money, where they got it from in the first place etc

Basically, I say we just start a fresh "drop the debt" campaign. Apparently the UK spends more on debt interest than defence. If we can forgo the monies owed to us through years of crap governance of 3rd world states and just write it off, I suggest that the "world bank" does the same for everyone else.
Right now...right now it's time to...kick out the Jam motherfucker, we prefer Lemon Curd!

    I reckon so.

After doing all this, I would then take on a strategic tax reform plan that will go along the following lines:

    1) Ban National Insurance - it isn't ringfenced for the NHS etc, it just get's lumped in the same pot as everything else so why bother with something that no-one understands? It can only add cost to the running of the system
    2) Fully tiered tax brackets. No tax on up to 10k. 10% up to 20k, 20% up to 30k, 30% up to 40k, 40% up to 50k, 50% over that.
    3) Ban VAT. It's become integral that we don't even show the pre-tax prices like you do in the states. They have a theme of "we don't charge the sales tax, just collect it". This sort of sales tax is just a way of getting you to pay more taxes on wages that you already paid taxes on. Just set the income tax higher to compensate, then make everything 20% cheaper by dropping VAT. Let's have some honesty.

That's just the start, I haven;t even thought about road tax, prescriptions, fuel duty etc.

The next recession will be the big one, the one were more regular people than not are losing the jobs and homes. That will be the one which is followed by the proper overhaul of the finacial sector. When the horde finally comes, they wont be zombies, they will be pennyless and hungry. That will be when the cannibalism starts.
