I agree things need to be done. Working more years is inevitable with an ageing population but it's the severity of our cuts in such a short space of time. Like I said before, the government themselves public sector are not reducing their pay or changing their pensions. Brown took a cut in his salary, don't see Cameron doing that, do you?
I'm sick of people saying public workers have a cushty life - I've worked both the private and public sectors. You work for a private company, you can make as much money as you deem possible and go up the corporate ladder if to the top if you choose. I can get to the top of my profession if I wish but how much I earn is determined by goverment. Again to reiterate from yesterday - private workers give us the sympathy when they're rollling in it, as soon as the shit hits the fan, we're told we're a bunch of moaners and count ourselves lucky. Can't win.
Yes, I can see the idea of benefits for those that weren't unemployed last year but remember it's us that's paying for it and if they keep cutting pay, contributions will falter and these benefits become unaffordable anyway.
Private workers give us sympathy/shit.
do we? all of us?
How about a sympathy shit nnnnnnnnng too late.
Like Dan suggested, I think we should work on a chant, but work on a chant together which reflects all of our opinions and stances.
I'll begin, as a framework, feel free to adjust it accordingly.
WE HERE! WE'RE QUEER! WE DONT WANT ANY MORE BEARS!
That actually made me laugh
Now I have more important things to contend with, if you'd all excuse me...
During the recession we all got asked if we would take a 10% pay cut. I said no tho. It was clearly just an excuse to use the recession as an excuse to make the company even more money. I work for two companies, the year before one of them made record profits, infact that year they made the most any Company in the UK has ever made.
See that's the problem. Private companies only look back to the previous year. In 05, 06, 07 they could have made around £20bn each year. In 08 they make £40bn then in 09 they go back to making 'only' £20bn. And they see this as a £20bn loss rather than the year before being a blip!
SO in that instance I refused to take a pay cut, because it was no way justified. If I worked for a small private owned business, and I loved my job, then I would take a pay cut to help the company, expecting when times are good again id be rewarded. But working for large corporations, they can get fucked.
Well that's what im getting at! People today Strike in the confinements that the Government allows.
It's not going to make any difference. They'll shaft someone else to sort you for a while, but eventually the shafting will be back to you.
And as for the not voting in Cameron, well we had a chance to sort that with the AV but the majority of the public just didnt give two fucks.
I'm currently encouraging my enormous workforce to have a 30 minute walk-out at lunchtime, they won't be paid for it but at least they can have a cigarette and complain about the fact that one of the geese on the pond has just been consumed by a fox. Then I'll tempt them back to work by offering them a choicy selection of fish paste sandwiches, volavonts and sausage rolls.
